Former Negros Occidental Board Member David Albert Lacson, who was unsuccessful in his bid for EB Magalona mayor in this year’s midterm elections, has formally withdrawn his electoral protest against Mayor Marvin Malacon.
Based on a document forwarded to the Silay City Regional Trial Court and signed by Lacson’s legal counsel, Atty. Rhodora Lo, they are praying the court withdraws the electoral protest and grants the release of a P76,000 cash deposit.
The document was submitted last June 25 and a copy was also received by Malacon’s legal counsel, Atty. Ariel Malunes.
Malacon won the 2019 midterm elections after garnering 20,093 votes against Lacson’s 10,270.
Last month, vice mayoral candidate Hope Marey Depasucat, with Town Councilors Anton Magalona and Rommel Mogul, who were both seeking reelection, filed electoral protests alongside Lacson./DGB, WDJ
