Ceres-Negros FC was ousted from the 2019 AFC Cup after falling 3-2 on aggregate to V.League 1 champions Hanoi FC in the ASEAN zonal semifinals. After previously drawing 1-1 in the first leg, the Bacolod City club lost 2-1 last Tuesday in the second leg at the Hang Đay Stadium in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Hanoi came into the match the aggressor with striker Ngân Van Đại and midfielder Đo Hùng Dung setting up close range shots, which were both foiled by Ceres keeper Roland Müller. However, in the second half, Pape Omar Faye put Hanoi up 1-0 in the 59th minute.
Five minutes later, forward Nguyen Vun Quyet put the club up 2-0.
Closing in on the end of regulation time, with the Negrense club down 3-1 on aggregate, Ceres striker Curt Dizon pulled one back in the 85th minute.
Ceres last claimed the AFC Cup ASEAN zonal title in 2017 after defeating Singaporean club Home United FC in the finals./ASC, WDJ
