to repair traffic lights
The Iloilo City Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) will begin repairing defective traffic lights throughout the city next month with PSTMO head Jeck Conlu saying the department was allocated P1.5 million towards the project.
“We already have a budget amounting to P1.5 million and we will process all the needed documents once the banning period, relative to the national and local elections, is over,” he added.
Conlu noted, some traffic lights may be to be completely replaced.
Among the areas highlighted as being in need of traffic light repair include the corner of Ledesma-Mabini Streets in the City proper district; the corner of Delgado-Infante Streets, near the Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital in the Molo district; Huervana Street, near the Lapaz Public Market; among other locations.
Last October, the Dumaguete City government announced, following ongoing plans to install a closed-circuit television system throughout the city to monitor for criminality and traffic violations, they also plan to implement a traffic light system.
“The installation of traffic lights system is the next big project,” the city government press release confirmed.
Officials also believe traffic lights will allow enforcers more opportunities to focus on penalizing errant motorists rather than merely directing traffic./WDJ
