Senator Cynthia Villar, who recently served as guest of honor for the Bacolod City Charter Day observance, said she seeks to retain her current committee chairmanships. She currently chairs the Senate Committees on Environment and Natural Resources, and Agriculture and Food.
“Those who would like to remain in their existing committees are allowed to do so,” she noted.
Villar said, as part of her return to office, her current priorities are oversight of the rice competitiveness enhancement fund; along with re-filing two coconut levy fund bills, which were previously vetoed by President Rodrigo Duterte.
Earlier, Villar was floated as a possible challenger to Senate President Vicente Sotto III when she refused to sign a resolution backing the incumbent, which was passed by 14 senators. She also publicly confronted Senators Aquilino ‘Koko’ Pimentel III and Manny Pacquiao for “dragging her in the rift” over senate leadership.
The senator later said she was not interested in the post./DGB, WDJ
