Incoming Negros Occidental Senior Board Member Rommel Debulgado said he is ready to chair the Committee on Budget and Finance if he is assigned to the committee.
“I will wait if it will be given to me,” he said.
The provincial official said the position requires “political will and commitment.”
While committee assignments among the provincial body have yet to be designated, Debulgado pointed out, he received the highest number of votes among those elected in last month’s midterm polls.
According to Provincial Board secretary, Atty. Maki Angela Ascalon, committee assignments will be done by July 2, when Vice Governor-elect Jeffrey Ferrer presides over his first session.
Traditionally, committee chairmanships are discussed among board members but internal rules require an election. However, during the inaugural session, rules are suspended and the vice governor has the authority to directly designate assignments./DGB, WDJ
