Both the Cignal HD-Ateneo Blue Eagles and CEU Scorpions moved closer to the 2019 PBA D-League finals following victories last Monday at the Paco Arena in Manila. Cignal HD-Ateneo scored a 105-67 win over the Valencia City Bukidnon-San Sebastian Stags, while CEU narrowly got past St. Clare Saints-Virtual Reality with a slim 76-75 win.
Angelo Kouame led Cignal HD-Ateneo with 19 points and 20 rebounds, followed by Mike Nieto with 12 points, Jolo Mendoza – 11, and Ferdinand ‘Thirdy’ Ravena III – 10.
Cignal HD-Ateneo broke a 52-all deadlock with a 14-2 scoring run to take a 66-54 advantage. From that point, the UAAP champions made it a blowout.
Meanwhile, Rich Guinitaran led CEU with 18 points, six rebounds, and two assists; while Maodo Malick Diouf set a D-League record with 33 points, along with picking up 19 points, eight blocks, four assists, and four steals./ASC, WDJ
