A suspected ‘rugby boy’ was found dead yesterday morning along a river in Barangay Singcang-Airport in Bacolod City.
Police identified the fatality as 21-year-old Joemel Flores, a resident of Purok Sigay in the said barangay.
Police Station 8 (PS8) commander, Police Major Charles Gever, said the victim’s remains were initially discovered by his sibling, who immediately reported the find to police.
In a statement given to police by the victim’s mother, Lilibeth, she said Flores had failed to return home for two days.
She also admitted Flores was addicted to sniffing rugby, a kind of regulated solvent; however, she denied he had any enemies.
Preliminary examinations of the victim’s remains found no wounds to his body, although they noted blood coming out from his mouth and nose.
Gever tried to convince the victim’s family to have an autopsy conducted in order to determine the cause of death, but they refused.
Investigators from PS8 are now probing the incident./DGB, WDJ
