After the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) found many recently arrested drug suspects had been previously arrested on the same charges, BCPO officer-in-charge, Police Colonel Henry Biñas, has ordered city station commanders to submit a report regarding those prisoners who agreed to plea bargains.
In a radio interview with Aksyon Radyo-Bacolod, Biñas explained those arrested in possession of less than one gram of shabu were allowed to enter a plea bargain. However, once re-arrested, the plea bargain is automatically cancelled.
He said BCPO is presently coordinating with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology to attain a copy of former inmates who were able to make a plea deal.
During a three-day period last week, BCPO recovered almost P700,000 worth of shabu, which resulted in the arrest of 25 people.
The biggest arrest was made by anti-drug operatives from Police Station 7 last Thursday in Bacolod City’s Barangay 8, where 17 were nabbed on illegal drugs charges./DGB, WDJ
