The Negros Occidental Office of Provincial Agriculturist recently revealed cloud seeding operations have been canceled this month. Provincial agriculturist, Atty. Japhet Masculino, said recent precipitation made it unnecessary.
However, with P2.5 million already provided for the process, it can still be used for future cloud seeding plans within the year.
The province’s agriculture sector overall was hit with P480 million worth of crop damage caused by the dry spell, while rice crop losses were estimated at over P94 million.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the rainy season could be declared anytime between this week and the second week of June./DGB, WDJ
