Bacolod City students return to school today as the 2019-2020 academic year begins.
According to Department of Education-Bacolod Schools Division Superintendent Cynthia Demavivas, despite declaring this year’s Brigada Eskwela, which gathers students, parents, teachers, among others to conduct cleaning, painting, and minor repair work to local schools prior to the first day of classes, a “success,” she acknowledged some schools may lack chairs and teachers.
She said the department is currently looking to hire additional teachers but are currently unable due to the ongoing election ban.
The Bacolod City Police Office, meanwhile, has reassigned some personnel for beat patrol; while the Bureau of Fire Protection earlier inspected all the schools and surrounding establishments in the city as part of preparations for the opening of classes./DGB, WDJ
