Incoming Negros Occidental Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer is set to become the new president of local political coalition, the United Negros Alliance (UNegA), replacing outgoing Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr.
UNegA Secretary-General Salvador Escalante, Jr. said the local party agreed to make Ferrer the new leader following a formal gathering last week.
He noted, however, it still depends if Ferrer accepts the appointment.
If the vice governor accepts, Escalante will continue as secretary-general, while Marañon becomes president emeritus.
Ferrer was elected into office unopposed following the 2019 midterm elections.
He is expected to take office on July 1, alongside Governor-elect Eugenio Jose Lacson./DGB, WDJ
