The Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) secondary girls’ volleyball team is optimistic about her prospects in the 2019 Palarong Pambansa, which kicked off in Davao City over the weekend.
“Last year’s Palarong Pambansa may not [have been] for us but, this time, we worked harder to win,” said middle blocker Joan Marie Monares. “I know that we came here [a] much stronger team than last year and I know we have improved a lot.”
“Marami yung grumaduate sa team last year pero marami din yung nag step-up to fill up [those] losses (Many players graduated last year but there are just as many to step-up and make up for the losses),” she added. “We have so much to prove.”
Aside from Monares, also making up the WVRAA roster include Shane Carmona, Erika Deloria, Alyssa Bertolano, Kiesha Bedonia, Katherine Shane Cortez, Alvea Aurelo, Nikha Cabasac, Rhean Hebraica Almendralejo, Melody Pons, Myrtle Escanlar, and Ruchelle Relente./ASC, WDJ
