After Talisay City native Krisha Cordero caught the attention of University of Perpetual Help System DALTA-Atlas (UPHSD Altas) women’s volleyball team head coach head coach Sinfronio Acaylar, who saw her playing for Bacolod City’s Living Stones International School (LSIS), the Negrense recently agreed to play for UPHSD Altas in the NCAA Season 95 women’s volleyball campaign.
“It doesn’t feel real,” said Cordero. “Hindi ko inakala na I can play sa NCAA especially sa Perpertual (I didn’t think I could play in the NCAA, especially UPHSD Altas).”
“NCAA was just a dream for me,” she added. “I thought it was just something na hindi ko maaabot (I thought it was something I would not be able to reach).”
Earlier this year, after winning the 2nd St. John the Baptist Parish Volleyfest in Bago City, Cordero was named MVP in the girls’ division.
Aside from Cordero, UPHSD Altas also recruited other LSIS students including Kristine Umbao, Love Joy Mejorada, and siblings Shanine and Fairly Pretta for their high school girls’ team; alongside Patrick Dama, Laurence Alaban, and Rhondaon Duot on the men’s side./ASC, WDJ
