A woman was arrested in Iloilo after allegedly kidnapping a baby while working as a babysitter in Bacolod City’s Barangay Alijis.

Police identified the suspect as 19-year-old Airesh Martir, a resident of Purok Santol in the city’s Barangay Mandalagan.

According to a Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) investigation, Martir had been working as a babysitter for George and Norilyn Salas for three weeks, looking after their one year old child.

Authorities found the suspect had been claiming the baby as her own on social media and allegedly brought the child to Miag-ao, Iloilo in order to introduce the child to her boyfriend.

After the BCPO coordinated with the Miag-ao Municipal Police Station, Martir was arrested.

She currently faces kidnapping charges and is under BCPO custody./DGB, WDJ
