At least 21 homes were destroyed on Black Saturday following a blaze in a residential area of Barangay Singcang-Airport in Bacolod City.
Based on reports from the local Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire reportedly started at a home owned by Mary Grace Lopez.
BFP-Bacolod Fire Marshal, Fire Chief Inspector Publio Ploteña, said Lopez reportedly had a fight with her live-in partner around 2:20 a.m. Text messages coming from Lopez’ partner revealed she was being ordered to return home in order to stop a blaze he allegedly started.
The local BFP and fire volunteer groups immediately responded and declared a “fire out” by 3:12 a.m.
Arson investigators estimated the damage to be P200,000.
Barangay Singcang-Airport Captain Rosinie Distrito, meanwhile, reported around 28 families, or 120 individuals, were affected by the blaze.
He also pointed out, no one was killed or injured in the incident.
Distrito added, they are presently seeking assistance for those affected by the fire.
Local police, meanwhile, are presently searching for Lopez’ live-in partner, who may face arson charges./DGB, WDJ
