Saturday morning quake shakes Siaton
The Western Visayas was struck by multiple weekend earthquakes beginning with a 2.6-magnitude tremor that struck just north of Sipalay City, Negros Occidental on Saturday night, around 9: 55 p.m. Less than a half hour later, a 2.7-magnitude quake was recorded west of San Joaquin, Iloilo.
By early Sunday morning, just after 3:30 a.m., a 2.1-magnitude earthquake was recorded south of Ibajay, Aklan. 14 minutes later, at 3:46 a.m., a 2.2-magnitude quake was recorded south of Pandan, Antique.
According to subsequent Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) bulletins, no damages were reported nor were there aftershocks expected.
Meanwhile, a 2.0-magnitude earthquake was also recorded south of Siaton, Negros Oriental just after 11:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.
Much like the aforementioned incidents, a Phivolcs bulletin later indicated there were no damages reported nor were there aftershocks expected./WDJ
