The Magnolia Hotshots are bracing for possible revenge from Barangay Ginebra San Miguel when the two begin their 2019 Honda PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinal series tonight at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Barangay Ginebra has an axe to grind with the Hotshots after the latter ousted them in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup semifinals, ending Ginebra’s two-year reign.
Hotshots guard Paul Lee is aware of possible revenge but said he and his teammates would rather turn their attention to sealing a 1-0 edge in the series.
“Crucial ‘yung Game 1, ‘yun ang sinasabi sa amin ni Coach Chito (Game 1 is crucial, that is what our coach Chito Victolero said),” he stated. “‘Yun ang talagang parang Game 7 kasi kung sino talaga ‘yung makauna ‘yun ang mas mataas na chance na manalo sa series (It is really like a Game 7 because whomever is first has a better chance of winning the series.”
Lee also said he hopes his recent shooting consistency continues through the playoffs./ASC, WDJ
