Negrense Bea Tan, along with her partner Dji Rodriguez, moved into the quarterfinals of the Santa Fe Open over the weekend, a 2019 Beach Volleyball Republic on Tour competition at the Beach Placid Resort, located on Cebu’s Bantayan Island.
Tan and Rodriguez defeated Natsu Kilamura and Katrina Epa of LNMB-Tanjay with a 21-9, 22-20 win; then proceeded to beat Chyne Mae Saberon and Nicole Ricaborda of Southwestern University, 21-7, 21-13.
Also advancing to the quarterfinals were Bianca Lizares and Margie Señas of Bacolod City, who beat the back PetroGazz tandem of Jonah Sabete and Melanie Torres, 21-16, 21-15.
However, University of St. La Salle squads did not fare as well.
Nohlin Jundana and Ceejay Recayo lost 22-20, 20-22, 15-11 to Cebu’s Therese Ramas and Krizia Talacero on the ladies’ side; while Harold Parcia and Neil Depedro were beat 21-18, 21-16 by AboitizLand’s Krung Arbasto and Jason Uy in the men’s division./ASC, WDJ
