Cherry Rondina and Ejiya Laure of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) currently lead the race for UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball MVP.
Rondina, who is on her final year with UST tallied a league-best 17.4 points average in seven matches, second-best 34.26 percent success rate, along with placing sixth for digs with a 3.70 excellent digs per set record. Meanwhile, Laure leads all rookies and is currently ranked second in the MVP race with a second-highest scoring average at 16.7 points and a league-best 37.88 percent success rate.
Also in the hunt for MVP include Diana Carlos of the University of the Philippines; Kat Tolentino of Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU); along with Princess Robles, an Ilongga, who plays for National University.
Among other honors, Rondina, Robles, and Laure emerged as the top three outside hitters; Carlos and Tolentino were named top opposite spikers; Madeleine Madayag of AdMU leads the middle blocker race; Michelle Cobb of De La Salle University tops for setters; and Kath Arado of University of the East is a frontrunner for librero./ASC, WDJ
