“…Therefore the Lord, the LORD Almighty, the Mighty One of Israel, declares: `I will restore your leaders as in days of old, your rulers as at the beginning. Afterward you will be called the City of Righteousness, the Faithful City’…” –Isaiah 1:24, 26
Many have been given the opportunity to lead and govern. Some leaders turn out to be blessings; instrumental in the improvement of lives. Historically, people who are led by those who follow direction and guidance from the heavens enjoy a life characterized by success and prosperity.
For Rotary International District 3810, which covers Manila, Pasay City, Cavite, and Occidental Mindoro, the estimated 3,000 Rotarians are blessed with leaders who walk with God, among them is District Governor Liza Vicencio Elorde.
While she does not assume office until July, it is already evident – to Rotarians both in the Philippines and around the world – her leadership is inspired and guided by God.
From 2011 to 2012, while serving as her Rotary Club’s changemaker president, Elorde was named “Most Outstanding President” and received many awards in recognition of her extraordinary leadership abilities.
As a changemaker president who served with Elorde, I have witnessed her leadership qualities, which is why, since then, I knew she would become governor.
While undergoing governor’s training in San Diego, California, in the United States, Elorde was installed as lead spokesperson and de facto leader for Rotary governors from the Philippines. Today, she is in the middle of preparations to train the incoming presidents who will serve with her. In doing so, Elorde has broke records with over 80 president undergoing so-called presidents-elect training seminars last weekend at the Marriott Hotel and Widus Hotel and Casino at the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga.
In addition, after previously encountering challenges, presidents-elect from Occidental Mindoro came to training in full force for the first time.
This is an indication that District 3810, under Elorde, will be guided by the guidance and blessings from God. Rotarians are assured of leadership that centers around the organization’s principle of “service above self.”
