A total of 108 individuals were rescued on Saturday after an Iloilo-bound ship ran aground off the coast of Bisucay Island, located in Cuyo, Palawan.

Based on information provided by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the M/V Milagrosa J-3, which had 93 passengers and 15 crew members aboard, was heading for Iloilo City when they encountered strong winds and currents, causing their ship to be dragged toward a shallow portion of the island’s Banda Point late Friday night.

The PCG-Cuyo station was later sought for assistance after being contacted by a passenger.

The PCG District in Palawan immediately organized a search and rescue operation.

No one was injured from the incident and the passenger vessel was safely returned to Cuyo Port.

The PCG is currently conducting further investigations into the incident./DGB, WDJ
