De La Salle University (DLSU) dug deep in their 25-10, 20-25, 27-25, 25-22 win over National University (NU) in the 81st UAAP women’s volleyball season last Wednesday at the San Juan Arena.
May Luna led DLSU with 14 points; followed by Aduke Ogunsaya, who scored a career-best 13.
After easily winning the opening frame, DLSU struggled in the second set as NU took a 16-12 lead. DLSU came to within 21-20 but Princess Robles and Ivy Lacsina chipped in the points for NU to level the match.
Robles continued to lead NU in the third set with the score tied 25-25; however, an error from Lacsina, followed by a conversion by Luna, allowed DLSU to escape.
NU kept the match close in the fourth set but DLSU banked on its wide experience behind Luna, Ogunsaya, and Desiree Cheng to take the win.
In the second match, the University of the East cruised to a 20-25, 28-26, 25-23, 25-22 stunner over Adamson University./ASC, WDJ
