According to Indonesian sports news outlet Indosport, striker Phil Younghusband, captain of the Philippine men’s national football team, the Azkals, is reportedly in talks with Indonesia football club PSIS Semarang.
“We continue to communicate with [Younghusband]; so far, it is still on a positive track,” said PSIS Semarang CEO Yoyok Sukawi. “We will work hard to get Philip’s signature.”
With the recent announcement of the Philippine Premier League, which will replace the Philippines Football League, Younghusband’s domestic club, Davao Aguilas FC, has since withdrawn from the competition.
“Hopefully, soon, there will be a good answer and, next month, Phil can join us,” the CEO added. “With his experience, he is a good addition to our football squad.”
PSIS finished tenth in Indonesia’s Liga 1 last season.
Prior to joining the Davao City-based club, the English-born forward previously played for FC Meralco Manila, which folded early last year; along with spending his early years with the Chelsea FC youth team./ASC, WDJ
