Deputy station commander shot dead in Singcang-Airport

The deputy station commander for Police Station 6 was shot dead yesterday morning by two unidentified gunmen in front of JR Torres Elementary School in Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City.
Police identified the fatality as 45-year-old Senior Police Officer 4 Oscar Exaltado, a resident of Purok 3 in the said barangay.
Based on initial investigations by Police Station 8, Exaltado was aboard his motorcycle and on his way to work at the time of the incident. Prior to the shooting, witnesses reported the suspects disembarked from a grey sport utility vehicle (SUV) and waited for Exaltado.
When Exaltado passed by them, the gunmen opened fire and the victim fell off his motorcycle. One of the gunmen approached the victim, picked up Exaltado’s service firearm, and used the gun to finish the victim.
The suspects then boarded a motorcycle and left with the SUV following behind them.
Exaltado was killed on the spot after sustaining a total five gunshot wounds to his leg and head.
Police recovered a total 17 empty bullet casings from the crime scene.
Police are presently investigating the incident, while a follow-up operation is being conducted against the suspects./DGB, WDJ
