Bacolod City mayoral candidate, former Bacolod City Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, recently vowed, if elected, to convene the Bacolod Sports Council as part of her platform to develop sports, particularly on the barangay level.

She believes sports helps instill discipline and values, along with serving as an alternative to engaging in illegal drugs.

The mayoral bet plans on conducting an inventory of sports facilities in the city and to identify sporting events where local athletes would have the potential to excel.

She also discussed plans to assure provisions for incentives to award local athletes who excel at various competitions, along with the need for more inter-barangay sports competitions and tournaments.

Batapa-Sigue also hopes to establish a hall of fame for local sports figures./WDJ
