A pregnant teenager was recently apprehended at a checkpoint manned by cops from Police Station 2 (PS2) at Santo Niño Staff Road-San Juan Street in Barangay 2, Bacolod City.
Police did not identify the 17-year-old teenager, who was reportedly riding a tricycle during the apprehension.
PS2 commander, Police Senior Inspector Leo Estopa, said they stopped the tricycle while conducting a routine check point in the area. He said several cops spotted the teenager throwing one big sachet of suspected shabu, which resulted in her apprehension.
The seized illicit substance was valued at P72,000.
When cops interrogate the teen, she claimed she was only ordered to carry the illegal substance.
Estopa believes minors are being used as “runners” by drug dealers as it is assumed police would not arrest minors.
The apprehended minor has since been turned over the city’s Social Development Center./DGB, WDJ
