The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) yesterday said New Year’s Eve celebrations in the city was “generally peaceful” and there were no significant incidents recorded.
In a statement forwarded by BCPO public information officer, Police Chief Inspector Ariel Pico, they did not record any incidents of indiscriminate firing or stray bullets during the celebrations and there were no fire incidents caused by firecrackers.
However, BCPO did record five incidents, three related to reckless imprudence resulting in physical injuries, one for theft, and one shooting with the use of an unknown caliber firearm.
During celebrations, BCPO deployed a total of 318 personnel, who were stationed at Public Assistance Desks, beat patrols, motorized anti-street crime operations, and border control.
BCPO attributed the peaceful celebrations to continuous police visibility, information dissemination on prohibited firecrackers, and crime prevention tips through the distribution of flyers and the use of social media./DGB, WDJ
