Police: Suspect may have been under the influence of drugs

A 23-year-old woman and her three-year-old child were rushed to a hospital in Silay City after they were reportedly set on fire by the woman’s live-in partner early Sunday morning.
Police have requested the victims and suspect remain anonymous, although authorities confirmed they are residents of the said city.
The Silay City Police Station Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) said the mother and child were sleeping in their home when the father allegedly poured gasoline on them and set them on fire.
The two sustained second degree burns across their bodies and were immediately rushed to a hospital in the city.
WCPD believes the crime was committed out of jealousy and speculates the assailant may have been under the influence of illegal drugs.
The suspect is detained at the Silay City Police Station and faces frustrated homicide charges./DGB, WDJ
