The Department of Education (DepEd) yesterday released an amendment ordering an early holiday for students, announcing Christmas break begins on December 15.

The annual break typically begins on December 22.

According to the order signed by DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones, the agency “values the importance of spending quality time with the family.” It went on to say, “The Christmas season provides an opportunity for Filipino learners to strengthen their emotional bonds with their family.”
