Sipalay City man strikes mother with shovel, sets her on fire

A woman was recently killed after she was allegedly hit in the head and set on fire by her son at Sitio Talaptap, Barangay Cabadiangan, Sipalay City.

Police identified the fatality as 63-year-old Gloria Esing, a resident of the said area.

Based on investigations by the Sipalay City police, the incident occurred around 11:00 a.m. last Sunday.

The suspect, 42-year-old Rolando Esing, whom police suspect may have suffered a nervous breakdown, reportedly hit her mother with a shovel while inside their home.

The victim was then dragged inside their comfort room, located 20 meters away from their house, and buried under a pile of dried leaves.

The suspect proceeded to light the pile, burning his mother in the process.

The suspect was immediately arrested after his seven-year-old son reported the incident to police./DGB, WDJ
