Third tremor recorded on the island this month
A minor 2.1-magnitude earthquake was recorded west of Nueva Valencia, Guimaras around 11:11 a.m. yesterday morning.
According to a bulletin from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, no damage was recorded due to the tremor nor were there any anticipated aftershocks.
Earthquakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli intensity scale, where very few even feel the tremor.
Yesterday’s seismic activity marked the third tremor to strike the island-province this month, after a 2.2-magnitude quake occurred just east of Buenavista at the beginning of October; along with a 2.7-magnitude earthquake recorded west of Nueva Valencia later that week./WDJ
