Chinese Consul General Jia Li met with Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III yesterday at Iloilo City Hall.

The two discussed various partnerships between the city and the country, highlighting the proposed monorail, to be built by BYD Auto Industry Co. Ltd., an automobile manufacturer based in Xi’an, China; along with planned charter flights between Iloilo City and Chinese destinations Kunming, Chengdu, Zhengzhou, and Shenyang.

The mayor said he hopes the consul general would consider setting up a consulate in Iloilo City.

Currently, the Chinese consulate in the Visayas is in Cebu City./WDJ
