Philippine Army 301st Infantry Brigade (301IB) deputy commander, Colonel Orlando Edralin, recently called on the public to report incidences of extortion by members of the New People’s Army (NPA).
“[The] army is gearing towards eradicating extortion activities,” he affirmed.
The military officer also anticipated, with the midterm elections taking place next year, the rebel group will likely conduct their “permit to campaign” drive, where they demand payment from candidates. He likewise called on political aspirants to report such incidents.
Edralin added, the 301IB recorded eight NPA encounters in the third quarter of 2018./WDJ
