Following the 2.2-magnitude earthquake that struck just east of Buenavista, Guimaras last Monday, the province experienced another tremor early yesterday morning when a 2.7-magnitude quake was recorded west of Nueva Valencia.

According to a bulletin from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), no damage was recorded due to the tremor nor were there any anticipated aftershocks.

The province was struck by four minor quakes last month, ranging between 1.6 and 2.4 in magnitude. Two tremors in particular, measuring 2.4 and 2.1 in magnitude, occurred within 25 minutes of each other.

Earthquakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli intensity scale, where very few even feel the tremor./WDJ
