The remains of a teenager, speculated to be around 16 to 17 years old, were recovered yesterday morning by patrolling Bantay Dagat personnel off the coast of Valladolid, Negros Occidental.

Police have yet to identify the body, but stated the victim was wearing a green t-shirt and blue underwear.

Valladolid municipal police chief, Police Senior Inspector Junju Liba, said they received calls from local fishermen reporting they spotted a dead body.

Police immediately coordinated with the town’s Bantay Dagat, who were patrolling the area where the remains were found.

After the body was recovered, Liba said they coordinated with various towns and cities in the western part of Negros Occidental to see if the teenager’s remains matches with those reported missing over the last few days.

The victim’s remains are presently interred and the town’s district hospital will conduct a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death./DGB, WDJ
