Two to tango: bus driver in police video must be probed, too

… However, if you no longer listen to the LORD your God, and no longer obey and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come on you and overtake you…” (Deuteronomy 28:15, the Holy Bible).

I can only agree that the policeman went overboard in slapping the bus driver with the driver’s own license, inside the bus and in full view of his passengers, as the video that has since gone viral will show. Indeed, this is police brutality at its worst.

However, I am compelled to ask: why did the policeman acted so angrily against the driver? What did the driver do before the slapping incident? It is clear that in incidents like this, it usually takes two to tango. Which means, the policeman would not have acted so brutally if the driver did not do anything bad earlier.

As I see it, the driver must also be subjected to investigation, and must also be penalized for whatever he did. It is a fact, and this can be attested to by every motorist like me on the road, that many bus drivers are rude, discourteous, indecent, and act like they are kings all the time. They have no respect for their passengers, fellow drivers and motorists, and pedestrians. They should also be punished!

OFWs, IN THE EYES OF THE BIBLE: So, what else is new about overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), like the 65 of them who were taken away from their employers and their work in the United Arab Emirates because of employers’ abuses against them?

OFWs, while they bring in money that sustains their families and the country, their being overseas workers actually constitute some kind of a curse from God. See Deuteronomy 28:15 and 32 of the Holy Bible for understanding. We know, or ought to know at least, that based on what the Bible is saying, abuses and other forms of suffering are the destiny that await them, no matter where they go.

As Deuteronomy 28:32 of the Bible says: “…Your sons and daughters will be given to another nation, and you will wear out your eyes watching for them day after day, powerless to lift a hand…”

DIVINE NATURE OF NATURAL DISASTERS: Disasters, of the natural kind, can be viewed as God’s curses for people who no longer listen to Him and who no longer obey His commands. Yet, man has chosen to ignore this “divine nature” of these calamities. Result? Nothing good has come out of man’s solutions. Unless this “divine nature” of disasters is recognized in the impending creation of the Department of Disaster Management, nothing will also come out of that agency. The funding for it will just go to waste, again!
