The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) is monitoring a new low pressure area (LPA) that could cause downpours in Negros Occidental in the next three days.

The LPA is located 615 kilometers west of Subic, Zambales, according to the PDRRMO, citing data from the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

But the PDRRMO and PAGASA are more concerned over another LPA which is located 1,280 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City in Cagayan.

The LPA is “very likely” to develop into a tropical depression in the next 48 hours, both agencies said.

The PDRRMO and PAGASA added that Negros Occidental may experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon, or habagat.

The PDRRMO is also cautioning small sea vessels of moderate-to-rough sea conditions./DGB, WDJ
