The Megaworld Corporation yesterday unveiled its new P28 billion ‘Upper East’ project, which will be constructed near the Bacolod City Government Center.
During a press conference, Megaworld-Bacolod Sales and Marketing Vice President Rachelle Peñaflorida said the project would become the city’s newest and modern central business district, which is projected to host residential condominiums, malls, commercial centers, mixed-use buildings, office towers, and hotels.
Development is scheduled to begin later this year and expected to take 10 to 15 years for completion.
Peñaflorida called the property the city’s first master planned mixed-use community, which will integrate “live-work-play components.”
‘Upper East’ will also provide amenities and facilities such as transport hubs, church, a central plaza, and several green and open parks with urban art installations.
Primary utilities such as power, water, cable, and fiber optic lines will be installed underground, with the property considered to be “flood-proof.”
The six-lane Upper East Avenue will also be constructed, stretching approximately one kilometer, it will connect Lopez Jaena Street to Circumferential Road.
One Regis, a condominium building, will be the first building constructed. Projected to stand nine-stories, it will house a variety of residential units.
Meanwhile, Megaworld Corporation Senior Assistant Vice President Harold Geronimo, who heads public relations and media affairs, said the property would also generate jobs, noting, they are currently looking to hire construction workers, engineers, and architects./DGB, WDJ
