Murcia Municipal Police Station investigators have a possible suspect in the murder of 39-year-old Eden Depino, whose body was found in a sugarcane field at Hacienda Granciana in the town’s Barangay Santa Cruz, Thursday morning.
Based on eyewitness accounts, around 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, an unidentified man visited a nearby house asking for help, claiming he was looking for his wife. The man, who was described as having legs covered in mud, was allowed inside by one of the residents.
By 2:00 a.m. on Thursday, however, the man told the resident he was going home.
In a separate interview with the victim’s husband, Angelo, he said he last saw his wife on Wednesday afternoon as she was leaving for work.
He believes the suspect’s true motive may have been to rob Eden, as her mobile phone was missing when her remains were discovered.
Murcia police invited a local resident, who was approached by the unidentified man, to the station in order to gather more information on the suspected killer./DGB, WDJ
