A fisherman was found dead last Thursday by fellow fishermen and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel off the coast of Barangay 4, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental.

Authorities identified the fatality as 62-year-old Judy Garina, a resident of Sitio Manaulan in the said barangay.

Information provided by the PCG-Sipalay Station revealed Garina went out to sea last Wednesday, but failed to return home.

PCG organized a search and rescue operation with local fishermen and later recovered the victim’s remains.

PCG personnel believe he may have been swept away due to the poor weather condition in the area./DGB, WDJ
