With the Philippines preparing to compete in the 2018 Asian Games, scheduled to run from August 18 to September 2 and co-hosted by Indonesian cities Jakarta and Palembang, Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas President Monico Puentevella expressed optimism for the team’s prospects in the competition.

Three athletes will be representing the Philippines in the upcoming competition, Olympic silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz, alongside Nestor Colonia and Kristel Macrohon.

Meanwhile, youth weightlifters will be competing in an event by Indonesia’s Ministry of Youth and Sports from July 29 to August 6./JSG, WDJ
