The Iloilo City Health Office (CHO), in partnership with the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Education, and Department of the Interior and Local Government, recently launched school health service programs at Iloilo City National High School and Molo I Elementary School.

Among the services provided include iron supplements, deworming, and vaccinations for measles/ tetanus diphtheria and the human papillomavirus.

“One of our strategies is the integration of services in order to maximize our efforts,” explained DOH assistant regional director, Dr. Maria Julia Villanueva. “This includes the provision of immunization and deworming among students and giving supplementation to female students.”

The services are expected for kindergarteners, along with students in Grades 1, 4, 7, and 12.

“We assure the parents that all school health related services of the DOH and CHO are safe, effective, and free,” affirmed DOH-Western Visayas Family Health and Nutrition Cluster head, Dr. Renilyn Reyes.
