Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo recently affirmed recipients of the city’s scholarship program must earn a “passing grade” to maintain eligibility.

He said, while other organizations often require at least a grade of 80 to maintain their scholarship, the city scholarship requires a passing grade, citing students who earn for their families have less time to study.

Eligible college students each received P12,000 annually.

Earlier this year, Silliman University, located in Dumaguete City, signed a partnership with the Department of Education and the Development Academy of the Philippines to promote indigenous learning systems, along with non-formal education./WDJ
