During a recent event at Camp General Adriano Hernández in Dingle, Iloilo, where the Philippine Army 301st Infantry Brigade is based, 84 surrendered rebels were presented.

According to 3rd Infantry Division commander, Brigadier General Dinoh Dolina, the event provided “an opportunity to the former rebels to attest their sincerity in returning to the folds of the government.”

Thirty nine of the former rebels are from Panay, while 45 are from Negros.

“This will also confirm the genuineness of the government to help them start a new life,” Dolina added.

Earlier this year, after allegations of sexual misconduct were reported at a suspected New People’s Army (NPA) camp in San Carlos City, then-303 IB commander, Brigadier General Eliezer Losañes, called on rebels to surrender.

“Lay down your arms, return to the folds of the law, do not be deceived by the NPA’s fake promises of a better future,” he affirmed./WDJ
