Four people were arrested after police raided a suspected illegal cockfight Sunday afternoon at Sitio Lupa in Barangay Kapitan Ramon, Silay City.
Police identified the arrested as 27-year-old Kesser Bon Loyd Justado, 50-year-old Joecil Dionora, 45-year-old Noel Cotamen, and 59-year-old Hermenio Ubaldo, 59, all residents of the said city.
Silay City police chief, Police Superintendent Noel Polines, said the raid was conducted after receiving information of alleged illegal activity in the area.
Upon arrival, police confirmed there was illegal cockfighting activity and immediately arrested the four.
Police recovered three wounded fighting roosters, two dead fighting roosters, and P1,350 in suspected bet money.
The suspects face charges in violation of Presidential Decree 449, or the Cockfighting Law of 1974, signed by then-President Ferdinand Marcos, and are currently detained at the Silay City Police Station./DGB, WDJ
