More than P1 million worth of suspected shabu was confiscated after City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) operatives conducted a buy-bust operation Thursday night at the Charito Heights Subdivision in Barangay Granada, Bacolod City.
Police identified the suspect as 31-year-old Myla Velano, a resident of the said area.
CDEU assistant team leader, Police Inspector Adrian James Albaytar, said Velano is a newly-identified high-value drug target.
Albaytar said the 17 big and one small sachet of suspected shabu recovered, which weighed almost 85 grams, allegedly originated from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City, Metro Manila.
He noted, Velano’s husband was incarcerated in the said facility.
The CDEU official said Velano was under close surveillance for several weeks before the operation was organized.
Velano, meanwhile, admitted to the allegations and explained she took over after her husband was sent to NBP.
The suspect faces possession and sale of illegal drugs charges and is detained at Police Station 5./DGB, WDJ
