The Regional Development Council-VI (RDC-6) held its 2nd Quarter Meeting yesterday morning, where they approved a proposed P3.5 billion budget.
During the meeting, which was attended by top officials from Region VI, the council approved the resolution, forwarded by the Infrastructure Development Committee, to fund 57 proposed infrastructure projects.
Bacolod City Planning and Development Office head Mary Jean Ramos explained the proposed projects would next be endorsed to the national government in order to be included in the 2019 congressional budget hearings.
Antique has the largest budget within the region with P950 million. Bacolod City, meanwhile, received P667 million and Iloilo City has a proposed budget of P275 million.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the P667 million would go towards four projects seeking to improve road access to primary tourist destinations.
Among the proposed road improvements include Araneta Street towards the Palmas Del Mar Resort, B.S. Aquino Drive leading to the Mambukal Mountain Resort in Murcia, 6th-Lacson Street heading to the Sta. Fe Resort, and Arceo-Alegria road towards Murcia./DGB, WDJ
