Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) election candidates flocked to Commission on Elections (Comelec) offices in the province to file their Statements of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCEs).
Negros Occidental Comelec elections supervisor, Atty. Jessie Suarez, said they were expecting candidates to visit their their offices since yesterday was the last day to file SOCEs.
Suarez said Comelec offices in the province were open last June 12 even though it was a holiday.
The elections supervisor pointed out candidates are required to file their SOCEs.
Candidates who fail to file their SOCEs face P1,000 to P30,000 in fines on their first offense, while second time offenders face perpetual disqualification from holding public office./DGB, WDJ
