A former Moises Padilla town councilor survived what he believed was an attempt on his life while on his way home Thursday evening.

In a recent phone patch interview with the media, former Town Councilor Ian Villaflor said he didn’t know the vehicle he was riding in was being fired upon until seeing three bullet holes in the Foton pick-up truck.

Villaflor explained, he just left a house owned by a kagawad in the town’s Barangay Guinpanaan and was on his way home when he heard burst of gunfire to his right side while driving through Barangay Cabacungan, La Castellana.

Villaflor said he was seated in the front passenger seat of the vehicle and immediately sped away to evade the gunmen.

He commended his driver’s fast driving skills, which he said saved his life.

Villaflor said he will have the incident reported to the La Castellana municipal police at a later time as he decided to “cool off.”

Villaflor dismissed personal motives behind the ambush, adding, he has no personal enemies.

“It could be politically motivated,” he noted, but declined to elaborate further.

Villaflor previously ran for mayor in 2016, but lost to Mayor Magdaleno Peña./DGB, WDJ
