With the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections set to commence on Monday, May 14, the Bacolod City Commission on Elections (Comelec) called on voters to refrain from supporting candidates who violate their rules.
In a radio interview yesterday morning, Bacolod City Comelec elections officer, Atty. Mavil Majarucon-Sia, asked if some candidates do not know how to follow Comelec rules and regulations, what would happen if they were given the chance to win?
The elections official said they are still continuing to monitor for violations committed by local candidates, especially with regard to the posting of campaign materials.
However, she said they are unable to remove illegal campaign posters yet, as the local office is only manned by 11 employees.
Majarucon-Sia added, the local office is ready for the election and confirmed already received the official ballots.
The electoral board is set to report to the Comelec office on Saturday in order to conduct final checks./DGB, WDJ
